Skardu  is a city in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. It is the capital of the Skardu District and the Baltistan Division. Skardu is located in the Skardu Valley, near the junction of the Indus and Shigar Rivers, at a height of nearly 2,500 metres (8,202 feet). The city serves as a major entry point to the Karakoram mountain range's eight-thousanders. The Karakoram and the Indus River, which runs through the region, are separated by the Indus River. 

Skardu city is rich in natural beauty, which attracts visitors from over the world. Glaciers, lakes, mountains, plateaus, forts, and other natural wonders abound. Thousands of tourists flock to this city every year. It is extremely important to Pakistan's tourism development.

Skardu's climate is pleasant in the summer, but bitterly cold in the winter, with temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius.

International Fame 

The Skardu International Airport, according to Ex Prime Minister Imran Khan, will boost tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), with Pakistan earning between $45 billion from it due to its extraordinary beauty.

According to him, overseas Pakistanis will be the first to visit the region for their summer vacations, adding that this will give locals with employment prospects.The PM went on to say that tourism may be a valuable asset for Pakistan, pointing out that Switzerland, which is half the size of the United Kingdom, earns 70 billion dollars from the business. He went on to say that, given the remarkable beauty of Great Britain, Pakistan might generate between $30 and $40 billion from tourism in the region.He warned residents to protect their interests, saying that foreigners would be eyeing their homes and land.
