Culture Of Gilgit Baltistan 

Gilgit-Baltistan is inherited by people of various sects, and its culture, customs, and traditions are diverse. Local traditions, music, and clothing reflect the cultural legacy of Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan.Gilgit Baltistan formerly known as the Northern Areas of Pakistan. Gilgit-Baltistan is a self-governing region, established as a single administrative unit in 1970 but it beecome province of Pakistan in 2009 under the government of PPP. It works under the federal capital and Its capital city is Gilgit and having 10 districts which includes Gilgit, Hunza , Astore, Nagar, Diamer, Ghanche, Skardu, Shigar Kharmanga and Roundou.


Historical Places

Gilgit-Baltistan, formerly known as the Northern Areas, is a Pakistani autonomous area that forms the northern portion of the broader Kashmir region, which has been a source of contention between India and Pakistan since 1947, as well as between India and China.

   Its main historical places are:

Baltit fort 

It has been on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List since 2004. It was founded in the eighth century CE. In the past, the formidable fort that overlooks Karimabad ensured the survival of Hunza's feudal system. The fort's foundations stretch back 700 years, with rebuilds and adjustments occurring throughout the ages.



Altit fort

The Altit Fort is a historic fort in the Hunza Valley of Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan. It was once home to the Hunza state's hereditary kings who held the title of 'Mir,' but they relocated three centuries later to the much younger Baltit fort nearby.

Shangri-La Hotel and resorts

The Shangrila Resort Hotel Skardu is centred on a peaceful heart-shaped lake. Every room in the cottages has a breathtaking view of the lake.Shangrila Resort Hotel Skardu opened its doors in 1983, with the first Resort Hotel in Skardu, Baltistan. This was the first resort in the northern territories dedicated to tourism. Because of its spectacular beauty, breathtaking outlook, and serene ambiance, it was given the name "HEAVEN ON EARTH.

Languages

The diversity of languages is important in Gilgit-Baltistan. Thirty Indo-Aryan, Indo-Iranian, and Sino-Tibetan languages are spoken here. Urdu, Pashto, Shina, Balti, Wakhi, and Burushaski are among the languages spoken, with Shina and balti being the official language.

Dressing

The way a person dresses is very important to their identity. The region's traditional dress is influenced by local culture, topography, and weather.

Dress for Men
Gilgit Baltistan's male citizens wear several types of woollen caps, which they see as an honour.
Men usually put on:

Shalwar kameez with a woollen cap
Long or short sleeved woollen robe
Women's Clothing
The traditional cap is the most elegant feature of a woman's outfit. Caps of several sorts are used. The most popular headgear is the lovely embroidered Iraghi cap with the traditional silsila jewel. Many more forms of hats are utilised in different parts of the world.
Caps are very popular in Gilgit Baltistan, especially for special occasions such as weddings.
In Gilgit baltistan men wear Shalwar kameez, long  Cloak  Chauga, Chitarli Cap.
Women wear  loose, colorful and frauq type.

Marriages

The wedding celebrations in Gilgit-Baltistan are culturist and colorful in character, with multi ethnic communities living close together but holding to a similar spirit. The rituals are fostering a calm and loving community by using indigenous culture.

Music

Soul Soothing Gilgit Baltistan's Traditional Music are Daang (drum), Damal, and Surnai are prevalent instruments in Pakistan's Gilgit-Baltistan, whereas Sitar, Gabi (flute), Rabab, and duff are used to symbolise distinct places. Games and Festival

In games gilgit baltistan is very famous for Polo. The Gilgit Baltistan have outstanding polo teams which is played in free style .. The Shandur Polo Festival is a national event in which this Force participates on a regular basis. Various sports and other activities are used to foster a competitive mentality.
